Re: Walcott is not the answer.
I find myself in agreement with Soldo. I think that under a proper manager like Bilic, Walcott could turn out to be an undiscovered gem.

And more than a decent back up for The Beast Antonio.

Re: Walcott is not the answer.
Don't think he is a bad player but the English premium of twice the transfer fee and twice the wages of others we are looking at isn't worth it.

Re: Walcott is not the answer.
45 apps' and 13 goals last season.... not too bad... especially as the idiot Wenger had him as sub for large parts... think a new challenge and a proper run he could be gold dust ... but as people have pointed out ... we are app' not in for him

"What it doesn't explain is why we're so set on keeping Carroll! "

Because the manager rates him highly.... Clown

Re: Walcott is not the answer.
i agree. don't want him. what's he ever done? not enough and if he's not good enough for arsenal, why should he be good enough for us. The Ian Wright, Davor Suker, Nigel Winterburn days are behind us when we sign the players they've finished with.

Re: Walcott is not the answer.
Walcott missed 6 games last season (calf) and 7 games the season before (groin). Both isolated injuries and no repercussions when coming back.

His injury record over this period is much better than Oxlade Chamberlains.

Three season back he was out for pretty much the whole season with a cruciate injury, but again there has been no repercussions since coming back.

Re: Walcott is not the answer.
He's not the answer for 25 million and £120,000 a week, that's for sure. He's worth about half that, both in fee and wages.

We could find far far better value elsewhere, especially for someone who's not really an out and out striker, and doesn't want to play wide.

Theo Walcott - 44 games last season according to ESPN

For an injury prone player, that's not bad.

Sakho's played 48 games in 2 seasons.

If we do sign Walcott, we'll have to let Carroll go, to free up space in the treatment room.

What it doesn't explain is why we're so set on keeping Carroll!

Re: Walcott is not the answer.
Just checked and Ox has actually missed 72 games through various different injuries (Knee, Groin, Hip, Hamstring) over the past 3 seasons, much worse than I thought!

RichyP 12:49 Tue Jun 7
Re: Walcott is not the answer.
Similarly Oxlade Chamberlain has only played 59 out of 114 PL games over the last 3 seasons. Although to be fair he is 5 years younger than Walcott and may have been used a bit more sparingly because of his age in the early part of the last 3 seasons.

Wouldn't it be better to look at his entire career to decide whether or not he was injury prone?

IRON

he has played 55 out of 114 Premier league games in the last 3 years.

Personally, i would class that as injury prone.

On his day he is excellent. But how often is that? Probably why Arsenal are happy to let him go!

Re: Walcott is not the answer.
Ox would be a great signing. He's only 22

He will be an excellent player if he can get a run of games.

Don't want Walcott or Ox we need hungry up and coming players not top teams cast offs.

Already confirmed by Jack ain't happening so why waste time discussing.

Re: Walcott is not the answer.
That's true, OM, but I wasn't so much thinking of age when I mentioned Antonio, so much as trying to find someone with a lot of potential rather than an established player with a big transfer fee.

Re: Walcott is not the answer.
I cant believe we could be going for Walcott, most overrated player ever. If Arsenal sold him for 25m they would ne laughing their socks off. Surely Bilic is not that dim.

BarkingMadHammer 11:52 Tue Jun 7
Re: Walcott is not the answer.

Don't think it would be a good idea either ,

Walcott and Carroll permanently in the treatment room!!!

I'd take a gamble on the OX at the Arse !!!!!

Strikers ? Lets take a punt on Bony ?
